214th Anniversary of the Death of George Washington

Colonial Pork and Beans

Today marks the 214th anniversary of the death of George Washington. What better way to remember one of the founding fathers of the United States then by having a colonial-style feast in his honor?: country style pork ribs, City Tavern ‘s chef Walter Staib’s recipe for molasses baked beans with @stoltzfusmeats bacon and salt pork, @colonialwmsburg ‘s own Raleigh Tavern ‘s recipe for Indian Corn Muffins made with Anson Mills fresh native stone ground organic antebellum sweet Carolina cornmeal, all washed down with @yardsbrewing ‘s General Washington’s Tavern Porter a brew made following Washington’s original recipe (brewed with molasses) with some homemade fruitcake to top it all off with while browsing through Washington’s Rules of Civility.
